Modi Honored by CGA

STANFORD, Calif. – Senior Akash Modi has been named the College Gymnastics Association Gymnast of the Week, as announced by the organization Monday. The honor is Modi's 16th of his career, increasing his lead as the all-time leader in NCAA Division I Gymnast of the Week honors.

The Cardinal closed out the regular season in a dual meet against No. 12 California where Modi claimed event titles in the all-around (87.650), floor (15.250), pommel horse (14.550) and parallel bars (15.400) to help propel No. 2 Stanford to a sweep of the Golden Bears in team and individual event titles.

Modi has earned 18 individual event victories against NCAA teams this season: all-around (5), parallel bars (5), floor (3), pommel horse (4) and high bar (1).

With his 16 honors, Modi leads the all-time list of Division I CGA Gymnast of the Week awards, besting Jake Dalton of Oklahoma and Sam Mikulak of Michigan, who each have nine.

Stanford will look to keep its momentum going on Saturday, April 8 as the Cardinal travels to the MPSF Championships. Meet time is set for 4 p.m. PT in Berkeley, Calif.
