
Myra Joined the Stanford Sports Medicine team as an Assistant Athletic Trainer in the spring of 2008. Since her arrival on ‘The Farm” she has been providing direct medical coverage to the Field Hockey and both Men’s and Women’s Tennis programs. Administratively, Myra has assumed leadership in a number of areas. She currently operates as the Clinical Continuing Education Coordinator for the Athletic Training Staff and BOC representative. She also is in charge of all office supply procurement for the athletic training facilities. Myra also serves an essential role within the organization as the Nutrition Liaison for Sports Medicine. Under the direction of physician referrals, she provides medical nutrition consultations and individualized nutrition education to student athletes.
Myra also occupies a seat on the Stanford University Healthy Eating and Body Image Consortium – a multidisciplinary approach to nutrition education to the campus community that includes a wide variety of health care providers including physicians, psychiatrists, psychologists and registered dieticians. Myra continues with a collaborative outreach to the Stanford hospital community and developing professional relationships with multidisciplinary allied health professionals. In the interest of educating the community at large and announcing the many facets, events, local and international activities of Stanford sports medicine, Myra serves as the social media contact coordinator.
Prior to arriving on “The Farm” Myra was very active in the community at large at Washington State where she participated in numerous research studies as a Graduate Research Assistant in Human Nutrition. Along with her graduate assistant athletic trainer responsibilities she served as a Clinical Instructor within the CAATE accredited undergraduate ATEP. Myra also volunteered with the BOC as an examiner for the Athletic Training Certification Exam. While attending Washington State, she completed the requirements for the didactic program in dietetics and received her 2nd Bachelors Degree in Dietetics. Myra was awarded her Master of Science Degree in Human Nutrition from Washington State University in 2009. Her graduate experience culminated with her thesis defense entitled “Effects of Soy and Whey Protein in the Prevention of Exercise-Induced Oxidative Stress and Inflammatory Damage in Human Athletes.”

Myra began her Athletic Training career while attending Chapman University, where, in 2001, she received her first Bachelor’s Degree in Movement and Exercise Science with an Emphasis in Athletic Training. After completing her undergraduate experience, Myra spent 3 years as the Head Athletic Trainer at Mission Viejo High School where she developed the sports medicine educational program before moving on in her own education at Washington State University.
In addition to her current administrative and clinical responsibilities, Myra continues with ongoing research endeavors with team physicians and sports scientists in the areas of sport nutrition, body composition, immune system response to exercise, and therapeutic effects of kinesiotaping. In 2010, Myra became a Certified Kinesiotaping Practitioner (CKTP) through Kinesiotaping Association USA and in 2011, certified in Selective Functional Movement Assessment (SFMA). In parallel to her devotion to education, Myra continues her educational interests including coursework in dynamic neuromuscular stimulation (DNS) and Bowen Therapy.
