Stanford, Calif. - Head coach John Tanner and the Stanford women's water polo team announced the signing of Christina Hewko (Newport Beach, CA) today. Hewko signed her National Letters of Intent Friday and will arrive on The Farm in the fall of 2003.

"Christina is an explosive, dynamic player who attacks the goal from any position," said Tanner. "She is a talented and determined athlete. We are very pleased she will be joining Stanford's Class of 2007 and our water polo program."

Hewko, a three-time high school MVP, helped Corona del Mar High School to the 2002 CIF Southern Section Division IV Championship in her junior campaign. She was a first team selection and was named Player of the Year for CIF Division IV and was a Second Team High School All-American. Hewko is a member of the U.S. Youth National Team and she travelled with the team to Australia this summer.
