HUNTINGTON BEACH, Calif. - Stanford women's water polo assistant coach Susan Ortwein was tabbed for the coaching staff of the USA Senior National "B" Team Wednesday. Ortwein, who in 2010 completed her 13th season on the Cardinal staff, will serve in the same capacity with the U.S. team as it begins immediate preparation for next summer's 2011 World University Games in Shenzhen, China.

Ortwein joins the rest of the U.S. "B" Team staff that was named Wednesday, which is led by Michigan head coach Matt Anderson. Joining Ortwein as an assistant coach is UCLA head coach Brandon Brooks.

Stanford has turned in a top-three national finish in each of Ortwein's 13 years on The Farm, highlighted by the team winning the 2002 national championship. Most recently, the Cardinal reached the National Collegiate Championship game for the seventh time in 2010.

Ortwein also serves as a head coach for the Stanford Water Polo Club, which she has led to three national championships.

In 1998, Ortwein was named an assistant coach for the U.S. Senior National Team as it prepared for the first-ever women's water polo tournament at the 2000 Olympic Games. There, the U.S. captured the silver medal.

Ortwein also played for the U.S. Senior National Team from 1991-92, helping the U.S. to a third-place finish at the 1991 FINA World Cup.
