    STANFORD, Calif. - Eleven Stanford women's water polo student-athletes were honored for their performance in the classroom, earning All-Academic Awards from the Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches (ACWPC). The total number of honorees bests last season's mark of nine.

    Freshman Monica Coughlan (3.84 cumulative grade-point average), sophomore Kim Krueger (3.75) and senior Heather West (3.79 were all awarded "Outstanding" status, given to student-athletes possessing a GPA between the range of 3.71-4.00.

    For West, it is her third national All-Academic honor, and the second for Krueger. Three more Cardinal student-athletes, seniors Koree Blyleven (3.56) and Kira Hillman (3.55) along with freshman Mimi Bury (3.45) earned "Superior" status, which required a GPA between 3.41-3.70. The honor is the third of Hillman's career and second for Blyleven.

    Rounding out Stanford's representation on the list was the quintet of juniors Kelly Eaton (3.16) and Jessica Steffens (3.23), sophomore Kim Hall (3.38) and freshmen Alyssa Lo (3.20) and Melissa Seidemann (3.33). The honor was the second in the careers of Hall and Steffens.

    In the pool, the 11 student-athletes helped Stanford to a 26-4 overall record and third-place finish at the National Collegiate Championship in 2009.
