What opponent would you like to beat the most?
Ucla!!! (without a question) We have lost to them three times this season and it is definitely time to beat them and not just by one goal.
Who is a current or former Stanford student-athlete that you enjoy watching perform?
Ogonna Nnamani is somebody that I love watching play because she is unstoppable on the court and such a dynamic player. I especially like when she spikes the ball so hard and fast that it knocks her opponents over. Watching her play inspires me to be a better player even though I play a completely different sport. She has such a strong presence on the court and is a team player. Ogonna is truly a one of a kind athlete and person. Off the court she is always very friendly, smiling, humble, and genuine. You should definitely meet her before she leaves!
What is your favorite sport (to play or to watch) other than water polo?
Another sport that I enjoy would be Badminton! I absolutely love it! (Even though I may get my butt kicked by ten year olds) Oh and also beach volleyball!
What is your major or contemplated major?
I am still not sure on my major, but currently I am leaning towards International Relations or designing my own major which would be peace and justice studies. I am interested in these majors because I want to somehow make the world a better place, and I think that either of these majors would be helpful in giving me some direction.
What has been your favorite class at Stanford so far?
I have a few favorite classes at Stanford, but my top three would have to be my drawing class, spirituality and nonviolence in social transformation, and writing in dramatic rhetoric (pwr 2). Also, Yoga- I don't know what I would do without it.
What is the best book you've read?
One of the best books that I have ever read is Tuesday Mornings with Morrie.
What do you like to do in your "free time"?
My favorite thing to do in my "free time" at Stanford is go on adventures with Katie Hansen or whoever is daring enough to go or sometimes by myself. Not everything is considered an adventure because Katie and I have very strict rules on what qualifies as a
true adventure. Actually, not really, but it helps if they are spur of the moment kind of things. Some of my past adventures include: going to Santa Cruz, Berkeley (and running out of gas on the freeway), San Fran, the dish, anywhere, and everywhere!
What is one moment in history that you wish you could have seen?
A moment in history that I wish I could see would be the first Olympic Games in Greece.
Do you have a favorite pre-game snack?
My favorite pre-game snack would have to be a peanut butter, banana, and honey sandwich they are the bombdizzle! (that's for you Lani)
Who would you like most to switch places with for a day?
I would like to switch places for a day with a kid from a tribe in Africa that lives in the savannah. I think it would be so cool to see how different their lifestyle is and I have also always dreamed of going to Africa and seeing a sunrise, sunset, and all the wildlife.
Do you have any siblings?
I have four siblings. Two older bros, Justin who is 25 and lives and works in Berkeley and Nathan who is 22 and is going to graduate from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo this year-yeah N! I also have a younger sister, Camille, who is 16 and goes to Corona del Mar High School and also plays water polo and loves to surf.
If you were going on a road-trip and could only bring one CD, what artist(s) would be on it?
If I was going on a road trip and could only bring one CD it would first definitely have to be a burned one. I would have Ben Harper, O.A.R, Jack Johnson, Brad Wolfe, Dave Matthews Band, Gypsy Kings, Shakira, Wyclef Jean (dirty dancing in Havana nights song and Perfect Gentleman), Israel Kam...(not sure how to spell his last name), Godfrey Paul, Madonna (Like a Prayer), Bob Marley, the Katinas, and some of my favorite Christian songs.
Do you have any plans for this summer?
This summer I am going to go to Chile and volunteer at a shelter for abandoned and abused girls and learn Spanish. After Chile I am going to travel on a bus (not a motorcycle-I wish-haha) to Buenos Aires to visit a friend and go on lots of adventures. I also might try out for the US National team and if I made that I would be competing in the world championships in Montreal, Canada.
Where do you see yourself in ten years?
Wow, ten years that's hard to say. But, probably either doing some kind of service work (Peace Core, working for a non-profit, human rights advocate) or trying to work for the UN or doing peace work with my Amazing, superstar roommate-Bryanne!!! (aka: BryGilk). And of course having fun and loving whatever I am doing because you got to.
Since you only live once... or maybe twice if you're lucky.
Do you have a favorite quote?
I actually have a quote book where I write down all my favorite quotes from friends, books, magazines, cards, calendars, random people, you know... the usual. So some of my favorite quotes are: "Everything will be okay in the end. If it's not okay, it's not the end" -unknown- "Peace it does not mean to be in a place where there is no noise, trouble, or hard work, it means to be in the midst of those things and still be calm in your heart" -unknown- "The journey of a thousand miles begins with one step"
