Junior driver Katie Hansen (Coronado, Calif.) was named MPSF Mikasa Player of the Week yesterday. Hansen tallied seven goals to help the Cardinal go 2-0 over the weekend.
Hansen netted a career-high six goals to lead Stanfod to a 12-6 victory over Hawaii on Tuesday, the Rainbow Wahine's first home loss of the season. In Sunday's Big Splash, Hansen converted a four-meter penalty shot in the fourth quarter as Stanford topped California, 8-4. Hansen is currently the squad's second-leading scorer with 31 goals on the season.
Also nominated for this week's award were Kim Hayes (Long Beach State), Robyn Kaake (UC Irvine), Lauren McGee (California) and Miranda Nichols (USC).
The Cardinal returns to action this weekend versus UC San Diego on Friday (6:00 pm), San Diego State on Saturday (6:00 pm) and Arizona State on Sunday (1:00 pm).
