STANFORD, Calif. -
Drivers Pallavi Menon and Victoria Kennedy of the top-ranked Stanford women's water polo team combined to sweep the MPSF's weekly honors Monday, as Menon took home the conference's Player of the Week honor and Kennedy was named Newcomer of the Week.
For Menon, a sophomore from Palo Alto, it is the first such honor of her career, while Kennedy, a Newport Beach native, brings the newcomer honor to Stanford for the second straight week.
The duo combined for seven goals in No. 1 Stanford's 17-6 victory over Sonoma State at Avery Aquatic Center on Saturday, with Menon leading the team with four goals and Kennedy posting her first collegiate hat trick with three goals.
The victory improved the Cardinal's record to 8-0 to start the 2010 season.
On the year, Menon is second on the team with 15 goals, while Kennedy has scored eight on the season.
No. 1 Stanford continues the 2010 season this Saturday with a 12 p.m. contest at San Jose State.
