Top-ranked Stanford women's water polo, fresh off of its fourth straight Stanford Invitational crown, travels east on I-80 to take on No. 13 UC Davis Saturday at noon.
Saturday's game will be the last for the Cardinal (8-0) for two weeks when it returns to action Feb. 23-24 at the UC Irvine Invitational.
Freshman driver and Canadian national team member Anna Yelizarova was named KAP 7 MPSF Newcomer of the Week Monday following a weekend in which she scored 10 times over Stanford's 3-0 run to its tournament crown. The LaSalle, Quebec native posted a pair of hat tricks at the tournament, scoring three times in Stanford's 8-5 title-game win over NO. 3 UCLA and posting a five-goal performance in Saturday's win over then-No. 8 San Jose State.
Senior Melissa Seidemann added eight goals as well, matching Yelizarova's five against the Spartans Saturday afternoon.
Stanford boasts the MPSF's top offense and defense heading into the weekend, averaging 13.38 goals per game while conceding just 3.63 goals a game.
Saturday's matchup will be the second in seven days between the Cardinal and Aggies. The two teams met Sunday morning at Avery Aquatic Center with the Cardinal capturing the 11-2 win behind a hat trick from sophomore Kiley Neushul and a pair of goals each from Seidemann and Yelizarova. All three Stanford goalies, Kate Baldoni, Emily Dorst and Gabby Stone saw action against the Aggies, allowing just two goals.
The Aggies (1-4) went 0-3 at the tournament, taking sixth place following . Senior utility Jessica Dunn scored seven goals over the three games while Carmen Eggert added six goals. In the cage, Riane Woods leads the Aggie goalie corps with 37 saves.
