STANFORD, Calif. - Sophomore two-meter Annika Dries of the No. 1 Stanford women's water polo team was named MPSF Mikasa Player of the Week, the MPSF announced Monday.

It is Dries' first MPSF Player of the Week honor. She was twice named the conference's Newcomer of the Week last season.

Dries scored 11 goals over the Cardinal's four wins as it claimed its second straight Stanford Invitational title.

Dries scored twice in Stanford's 10-9, three-overtime victory against No. 2 USC in the tournament's title game. Her second goal of the contest put Stanford ahead 7-6 with just 2:10 to go in regulation.

The Laguna Beach, Calif. native opened the tournament with five goals in Stanford's tournament-opening victory against Arizona State, then followed that up with another hat trick in the afternoon against No. 3 California.

Top-ranked Stanford (8-0) returns to action on Feb. 20, traveling to Stockton for a 1 p.m. contest at Pacific.
