STANFORD, Calif. -
Junior goalie Kate Baldoni was named KAP 7 MPSF Player of the Week, the conference announced Monday.
It is the first MPSF Player of the Week honor for Baldoni. She earned one newcomer of the week honor as a freshman in 2010.
Baldoni's weekend was highlighted by a 15-save effort Sunday afternoon as the top-ranked Cardinal defeated No. 4 UCLA, 9-5, to claim its third straight Stanford Invitational title.
The Newport Beach native made a total of 36 saves, an average of 9.00 per game, as Stanford (6-0) won all four games over the weekend, including an 8-7 win Saturday over No. 3 USC.
She also allowed just 17 goals over 13 quarters of action on the weekend.
Monday's announcement marks the second straight week that Stanford has captured one of the MPSF's weekly honors, as freshman Kiley Neushul was named newcomer of the week on Jan. 30.
Stanford returns to action next Saturday, opening MPSF play with a 1 p.m. contest at San Jose State.
