Women's Water Polo Falls to Cal in Semi-Finals

STANFORD, CA - Despite a three-goal performance by sophomore driver Suze Gardner (Atherton, CA/Menlo School), the second-ranked and second-seeded Stanford women's water polo team fell 8-5 to the third-ranked and third seeded California Golden Bears in the semifinals of the 1998 Collegiate National Championships - hosted by USC.

With the loss, which snapped Stanford's three-game win streak over California, the Cardinal will battle Hawai'i tomorrow at 1:30 p.m. in the third-place game.

Junior Rachel Best and sophomore Ellen Estes (Novato, CA/Novato HS) each added a goal for the Cardinal.
