STANFORD, Calif. -
Second-ranked Stanford women's water polo closed out its trip to Santa Barbara with a 19-3 win over Brown Monday.
Stanford (16-1) returns home this weekend for its first games at Avery Aquatic Center since March 4, hosting MPSF foe Arizona State at 1 p.m. this Saturday, March 31. The Cardinal will then host San Diego State Sunday, April 1 at 1 p.m.
Alyssa Lo led the Cardinal Monday with four goals, while Cassie Churnside and Ashley Grossman each scored thrice. Kaley Dodson and Kaitlyn Lo scored twice each, while Monica Coughlan, Jillian Garton, Pallavi Menon, Kiley Neushul and Lexie Ross all added goals.
Kate Baldoni and Emily Dorst each played a half in the cage, combining for 10 saves, six coming from Dorst.
The Cardinal picked up right where it left off from Sunday's win over UC Santa Barbara, dominating both ends up the pool. Stanford held the Bears to just one goal in the opening half, while an eight-goal burst in the second frame led to an 11-1 halftime edge.
Coughlan, Dodson and Garton netted a goal apiece in the first period, pacing the Cardinal to an early 3-0 lead. Alyssa Lo scored two of her four goals in the second period as the Cardinal again took control of the contest before the break.
After the break, Churnside powered the Cardinal offense, scoring all three of her goals in Stanford's six-goal third period. Kaitlyn Lo also chipped a pair of goals into the frame, extending the Stanford lead to 14-3 by the end of the period.
Dorst and the defense kept the Bears off the board over the final eight minutes, ensuring the Cardinal's 16th win of the season.
