Women's Water Polo Breezes Past Pacific




March 8, 1998

STANFORD, CA - The 3rd-ranked Stanford women's water polo team improved to 10-2 overall and 2-0 in Mountain Pacific Sports Federation play with a 11-3 win over Pacific (0-3, 0-2 MPSF) today at de Guerre Pool. Stanford put the match away early with three goals by sophomore two-meter Ellen Estes (Novato, CA/Novato HS) within the first two minutes of the opening whistle and two more by the end of the first quarter for a 5-0 Stanford lead. The Cardinal eventually opened up a 9-0 lead en route to the 11-3 victory. Estes finished with a match-high six goals on just eight attempts. Sophomore Suze Gardner (Atherton, CA/Menlo School) pitched in two goals while junior goalkeeper Heather Crary (Redwood City, CA/Menlo School) recorded four saves (two 5-on-6) in three quarters of action. Molly Smith led the Tigers with two goals.
