STANFORD, CA - The Stanford women's water polo team swept its first two home matches of the season today, defeating UC Davis 9-3 and UC Santa Cruz 18-4. With the pair of victories, the Cardinal improved to 5-1 on the season.

Stanford jumped out to 4-1 (1st quarter) and 7-2 (halftime) leads in the first match of the day against UC Davis and never looked back. Sophomore two-meter Ellen Estes (Novato, CA/Novato HS) paced the Cardinal attack with a match-high four goals. It was much of the same against UC Santa Cruz as the Cardinal jumped out to a 10-0 lead by the half. Freshman driver Ali Riddell (Orinda, CA/Miramonte HS) led 11 different Cardinal in scoring with three goals. Cardinal freshman Alli Henry (Palos Verdes, CA/Chadwick School) recorded eight saves in her first collegiate start in goal.

Stanford will return to action on Saturday, February 28 at the UC Santa Barbara Invitational.
