Michigan Kickoff Central
ANN ARBOR, Mich. - Sunday's women's water polo action nearly mirrored Saturday's as top-ranked Stanford was again dominant at the Michigan Kickoff, defeating No. 13 Indiana, 14-1, then downing host and eighth-ranked Michigan, 15-6.
The sweep completed an undefeated weekend for the Cardinal (4-0), which outscored its competition 57-11 at the tournament. Stanford takes the next two weeks off before returning to action Saturday, Feb. 5, when it hosts the two-day Stanford Invitational. Stanford gets its tournament started at 8:30 a.m. on Feb. 5 against Arizona State.
Juniors Pallavi Menon and Melissa Seidemann led the Cardinal attack with four goals on the day. Cassie Churnside and Alyssa Lo each added hat tricks in the afternoon victory over Michigan.
Once again Sunday, all three Cardinal goalies saw action. Senior Amber Oland went the first three periods against the Wolverines, making eight saves. Kate Baldoni and Kim Hall split time against Indiana in the morning, with Baldoni starting and making 12 saves, and Hall closing things out with two stops, while Baldoni played the final period against Michigan and stopped two shots.
Nine goals combined with a clean sheet from the Stanford defense in the first half led to a big halftime lead against the Hoosiers Sunday morning. While the Hoosiers managed to get on the board in the third frame, four goals from the Cardinal ended any hopes of a comeback with the 13-1 lead.

Facing the hosts in the afternoon, a back-and-forth first period resulted in a 2-1 Stanford lead. The Cardinal, though, would apply the pressure in the second frame, scoring six goals while the defense limited the Wolverines to just one, leading to an 8-2 halftime advantage.
Four more goals in the third period against just two for Michigan increased the Cardinal lead to 12-4, effectively putting things to bed.
Alyssa Lo, Churnside, and Seidemann all scored three goals apiece against the Wolverines to lead all players. Menon and freshman Kelsey Suggs each scored twice, while Kaitlyn Lo and Victoria Kennedy each scored once.
