The USA Water Polo Top 40 Tournament took place this past weekend in Los Alamitos, Calif., and it was a Stanford-dominated event as nine current and former Cardinal alumnae dotted the four team rosters. Six of the Cardinal players helped lead the Psychedelic Swirls team to the tournament title, as senior Jessica Steffens was named the tournament MVP and 2009 graduate Lauren Silver was the event's top goal scorer. >> Read More

The Stanford women's water polo team got its 2010 season started with its first practice Monday afternoon at Avery Aquatic Center. Sixteen returning letterwinners were joined by six new freshmen as the Cardinal took the first step on the road to what it hopes will lead to the 2010 national title.
It took an extra day to be made official, but the USA Women's National Team's 7-6 victory over Canada at the 2009 FINA World Championships was upheld by FINA officials Saturday, giving the U.S. a record third world championship and second in a row. Seven members of the Stanford women's water polo team came together last weekend and helped lead Stanford Water Polo Club's 20-under squad to the USA Water Polo 20-Under National Championship crown. Junior (in 2010) Kim Krueger, sophomores Cassie Churnside, Monica Coughlan, Alyssa Lo, Pallavi Menon and Melissa Seidemann, and incoming freshman Vee Dunlevie were all part of the championship squad that defeated Santa Barbara Water Polo Club 13-10 in the final in Stockton. >> Read More
The 2009 FINA World Championships are underway and Stanford women's water polo is once again well-represented on the U.S. Women's Water Polo team. 2008 Olympians Brenda Villa `03, Alison Gregorka `07 and Jessica Steffens `10 are once again donning the USA caps as the American side successfully opened defense of its world championship title Sunday with a 19-7 rout of Kazakhstan in Rome, Italy. >> Read More
