Aug. 19, 1997 Stanford to Host State Farm/NACWAA Women's Volleyball ClassicSTANFORD, Ca. -- Defending NCAA champion and top-ranked Stanford University will host the third annual State Farm/NACWAA Women's Volleyball Classic this Friday and Saturday at Maples Pavilion. The four-team tournament also features No. 2 Penn State, No. 8 Brigham Young and No. 13 Texas A&M. Tournament play begins Friday with Penn State taking on Brigham Young at 5 p.m. and Stanford meeting Texas A&M at 7 p.m. On Saturday, the consolation match will take place at 5 p.m. and the championship match at 7 p.m. The Cardinal can increase its Maples Pavilion winning streak to 50 matches with a win over Texas A&M on Friday night. The Cardinal has not lost at home since November 17, 1993. The streak is the fourth-longest in Division I history, and puts the Cardinal nine behind Florida's streak of 58 set from October 14, 1990 to September 4, 1994. Stanford's senior class of Kristin Folkl, Barbara Ifejika, Debbie Lambert, Paula McNamee and Lisa Sharpley is a career 47-0 at Maples Pavilion and 92-6 overall.
