STANFORD, Calif. - Stanford outside hitter Jordan Burgess has been named the Pac-12 women's volleyball Freshman of the Week for Nov. 19-25, Commissioner Larry Scott announced today. Stanford (27-3) defeated Colorado and California last week to close out conference play with a 19-1 record.

Burgess was a key part of the Cardinal's wins over the Buffaloes and Golden Bears. The rookie averaged 2.57 kills, 2.71 digs and 3.29 points per set, while hitting .283 in the two matches. Against Colorado, the Fort Myers, Fla., native totaled 10 kills on a .333 hitting percentage, and was one dig shy of a double-double. She also tallied four blocks, two assists and an ace against the Buffaloes. At Cal, she registered eight kills, 10 digs, two assists and two aces in the sweep.

Burgess leads the Cardinal with 2.91 kills per set and is second in digs (3.47) and points per set (3.37). Her 3.71 digs per set in Pac-12 matches is the ninth-best mark in the conference.

It marks the seventh Freshman of the Week honor for the Cardinal this season. Burgess also earned the honor back on Sept. 24. Madi Bugg (Sept. 10), Inky Ajanaku (Oct. 15 & Oct. 29) and Brittany Howard (Nov. 5 & Nov. 12) have all been recipients of the award for Stanford.

The Cardinal received the No. 2 overall seed in the 2012 NCAA Tournament, and the top seed in the Berkeley Regional. Stanford will play host to Jackson State on Friday, Nov. 30 at 8 p.m. Should the Cardinal advance, it will face either Western Kentucky or Loyola Marymount on Saturday, Dec. 1 at 7 p.m. in Maples Pavilion.
