STANFORD, Calif. - Led by second-team selection Mary Ellen Luck, five Cardinal women's volleyball players were honored today when Commissioner Larry Scott announced the annual Pac-12 All-Academic teams.
Luck, from Houston, Texas, earned second team accolades for the first time in her career. She earned honorable mention honors as a sophomore in 2011. The junior holds a 3.84 GPA in human biology at Stanford. Luck has competed in 53 sets for the Cardinal this season, averaging 1.13 digs per set and 0.13 aces per set.
Seniors Hannah Benjamin and Karissa Cook earned honorable mention accolades for the third straight season. Junior Rachel Williams and sophomore Lydia Bai were recognized for the second time as honorable mention selections.
To be eligible for the selection to the academic team, a student-athlete must have a minimum 3.0 overall grade-point average and be either a starter or significant contributor. Freshman and transfer students in their first season with a team are not eligible.
