Get an inside look at the Stanford women's volleyball team each week. In this edition, freshman Megan McGehee talks about last week's matches and having a weekend off.

Hello friends,

Well it has been another successful week for the Card, taking down both Washington State and the University of Washington on two consecutive nights. It was a new experience for our team, playing on a Wednesday as well as a Thursday night, but we worked hard all week preparing in practice and it all paid off.

Going into Thursday night's match, we were determined to not give you guys the same roller coaster ride as we experienced in our first run-in with Washington. We came out very strong in the first and second sets, winning both, but Washington fought back and stole the third. Going into the fourth set, we all knew that we were not going to allow the game to turn into the same up and down roller coaster as it did at Washington. We worked hard and fought back to win the fourth set, relieving everyone I'm sure.

Our coaches were gracious enough to give us Friday off, giving us all a chance to enjoy some rare free time (what is free time?). All of the freshmen chose to spend this time at the Stanford Mall. We biked over, which takes a total of 10 minutes, and headed straight to our favorite store Urban Outfitters. The trip was extremely successful. On the way back it was pitch black outside and freezing cold so we bundled up in our new clothes and pulled out the life-saving bike lights and made the trek back to campus.

Saturday's football game was a lot of fun for our team because we got to walk on the field at halftime and stand in the Stanford Band's "S" shape and be presented the Director's Cup with a bunch of other Stanford athletes. It was such a different experience to stand in the middle of the football field and look up at the crowd compared to doing the same at Maples.

It has been a great and successful week, but now we are back to the gym to prepare for USC and UCLA. Working hard to make our way to Louisville!!

Megan
