Feb. 5, 1998

STANFORD, Calif. --- Stanford University head women's volleyball coach Don Shaw announced on Thursday the signing of outside hitter Michelle Chambers (San Juan Capistrano, CA/Santa Margarita HS), middle blocker Tara Conrad (Torrance, CA/West HS), middle blocker Sara Sandrik (Pelham, AL/Pelham HS) and outside hitter/middle blocker Lindsey Yamasaki (Oregon City, OR/Oregon City HS) to national letters-of-intent for the 1998-99 school year.

The incoming class of 2002 will step into a program that has won three of the last four national titles (1994, 1996 and 1997). Stanford went 31-2 in 1997, including a five-game win over Penn State in the national championship game on December 20 in Spokane, Washington. The Cardinal graduates five starters from that team, including All-Americans Kristin Folkl and Lisa Sharpley.
