Penn State's Volleyball Team Too Much For Stanford

STORRS, Conn. - Stanford battled but came up short in a defeat at the hands of Penn State, 16-14, 6-15, 12-15, 7-15 at the 1997 Connecticut Women's Volleyball Tournament.

Penn State's offensive attack was anchored by Terri Zemaitis with 24 kills and 6 digs, Carrie Schonveld with 21 kills and 12 digs, and Christy Cochran with 20 kills and 12 digs.

In a losing effort, Stanford's Kristin Folkl led the way with 29 kills, 14 digs and a hitting percentage of .343. Barbara Ifejika also battled tough with 13 kills, 11 digs and a hitting percentage of.379. Debbie Lambert and Jaimi Gregory also contributed with 10 kills each and 15 and 11 digs respectively.

The loss brings Stanford's record to a very respectable 5-2. Penn State remains undefeated this year at 6-0.
