No. 3 Stanford Sweeps No. 12 WSU

Cardinal Wins 21st Straight

STANFORD, Calif. --- Sophomore Kerri Walsh (Saratoga, CA/Archbishop Mitty HS) hit .684 with 13 kills to lead No. 3 Stanford University (26-2 overall, 17-0 in the Pacific-10 Conference) to a 15-5, 15-7, 15-3 win over No. 12 Washington State (22-6, 10-6). Walsh did not make a hitting error in 19 attempts, and also added 14 digs, four assists and four blocks.

Stanford, which clinched the Pacific-10 Conference title last Sunday, outhit the Cougars .407-.149. The Cardinal held the Cougars to a .072 hitting percentage in the final two games.

Senior Barbara Ifejika (Brampton, Ontario, Canada/Mayfield Secondary) added 10 kills and eight blocks and senior setter Lisa Sharpley (Los Altos, CA/Los Altos HS) 42 assists for the Cardinal, which won its 35th straight Pac-10 home match.

Setter Stephanie Papke (Auburn, WA/Auburn HS) had 31 assists, eight digs and five kills to lead the Cougars.

Stanford will try to cap an undefeated Pacific-10 Conference season when it hosts California on Thursday at 7 p.m.
