Women's Volleyball Defeats No. 21 UCLA

LOS ANGELES, Calif.-The No. 21 ranked UCLA women's volleyball team succumbed to No. 4 Stanford 15-10, 15-6, 15-10 in Pauly Pavilion this afternoon. The victory improved Stanford's record to 14-2 overall and 5-0 in the PAC-10. UCLA fell to 6-5 overall and slipped to 2-4 in the PAC-10.

Only one player from each team reached double figures in kills as Kara Milling led UCLA and Kerri Walsh led Stanford each with 10 kills. Both teams struggled with a low attack percentage, as UCLA posted its lowest figure of the season by hitting .010 as a team. Stanford finished at .198 for the match. The national leader in assists per game entering the week, UCLA's setter Kim Coleman was held to just 20 assists and nine digs in the match. Stanford's setter Lisa Sharpley totaled 29 assists and 13 digs.

The difference in the match was mostly reflected in the blocking column. Stanford posted 12 team blocks as Paula Mcnamee had a hand on six and Walsh contributed on five, including two solo. UCLA was held to just three, all solo.
