Stanford Drops Oregon Volleyball in Three Games
EUGENE, Ore. -- The Ducks played one of their most inspired games of the season, nearly taking a game off No. 4 Stanford, before losing in three, 15-7, 15-7, 15-13.
With the win, Stanford improved to 19-2 overall and 10-0 in the Pac-10. Oregon fell to 8- 14 overall and 0-10 in conference play.
The Ducks were down early in game three, 5-1 but forged ahead at 9-8 on an 8-3 run. The teams were tied at 11 and Oregon used a kill by Madeline Ernst and a service ace by Michelle Christ to go ahead 13-11. But the Ducks faltered down the stretch, allowing Stanford the final four points of the match.
Ernst had a match-high 16 kills to lead the Oregon attack. Tia Stewart added nine kills against no errors for a .450 attack, while Christ also had nine kills.
Stanford was led by Kristin Folkl's 15 kills.
The Cardinal dominated at the net, posting 15 blocks to Oregon's two.
