Four Named To Pac-10 All-Academic Squad
Stanford was well-represented with three honorees among the women's tennis All-Pac-10 squad, as the selections were voted on by the league coaches. The Cardinal has placed at least three players on the team for the ninth straight season. Highlighting the Cardinal's three selections was Hilary Barte, who was named Pac-10 Freshman of the Year while also earning a spot on the First Team.
Freshman All-Americans Hilary Barte and Alex Clayton have both earned spots on the six-person USTA Summer Collegiate Team, as announced by the USTA and Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Thursday morning. The USTA Summer Collegiate Team is an elite training program for the top American collegiate tennis players that began in 1996 and is funded by the USTA. Freshman Hilary Barte's impressive rookie campaign came to a surprising end on Thursday afternoon, as the 5-5 lefty was defeated 6-3, 6-2 by Baylor's Lenka Broosova in the round of 32 at the NCAA Singles Championship.
