OJAI, Calif. - Stanford's men's and women's tennis combined to earn a total of four titles at the Pac-10 Championships and the Invitational Championships. A total of eight titles were up for grabs today and Stanford placed at least one player in each of seven finals.
For the women, Julie Scott and Ania Bleszynski, who were seeded first in the Pac-10 Tournament, defeated ASU's Katy Propstra and Stephanie Lansdorp, 7-5, 6-4, to earn the Pac-10 title. Stanford's Teryn Ashley and Jen Heiser both fell in their finals in the Pac-10 Championship and the Invitational Championship, respectively.
On the men's side, Stanford captured three of the four titles available. In the Pac-10 Men's Singles Championship, teammates Ryan Wolters and Paul Goldstein squared off with Goldstein coming out on top, 6-1, 6-2. Last year, Goldstein and Wolters paired up to win the doubles title at this tournament and are doubles partners this season. In doubles, Bob and Mike Bryan defeated USC's George Bastl and Kyle Spencer, 7-6, 6-3, to earn the Pac-10 Title. The Cardinal also won the Invitational Doubles Title with Charles Hoeveler and Geoff Abrams defeating UCLA's Vincent Allegre and Jason Cook, 7-5, 7-5. The men's only loss came in the championship match of the Invitational, where Stanford's Alex Kim lost to Cook, 6-1, 6-1.
