Ten Teams Advance to NCAA Championships at Stanford

STANFORD, Calif. - The NCAA Division I women's tennis subcommittee has selected the top ten teams to advance automatically to the national championship at Stanford University. Six regionals will be conducted May 9-11 with the winner of each regional advancing to the finals.

The NCAA Women's Tennis Championship will be at the newly-expanded Taube Family Tennis Stadium on Stanford's campus from May 15-23, 1997. The team finals are May 15-18 and the singles and doubles championships run from May 19-23. On Friday, May 2, the singles field of 64 and doubles field of 32 will be released.

Here are the ten teams which have automatically advanced:

2.	Arizona State (14-6)
3.	California (15-7)
4.	UCLA (15-5)
5.	Duke (22-3)
6.	Florida (28-0)
7.	Georgia (18-4)
8.	Stanford (24-1)
9.	Texas (22-5)
10.	Wake Forest (19-6)
