STANFORD, Calif. - Stanford synchronized swimming head coach Sara Lowe has announced the hiring of Megan Azebu as her assistant coach for the upcoming 2012-13 season. Azebu will be assisting Lowe, who is in her first season as head coach, with all aspects of the synchro program.

"I am extremely excited to have Megan join the Stanford synchro staff," said Lowe. "I cannot wait to kick the season off with her on the pool deck next to me."

Azebu comes to Stanford after serving as a coach with the Santa Clara Aquamaids for five years. She has worked in all areas of the Aquamaids' programs, including summer camp, novice and intermediate recreational programs and their age group programs. Most recently, Azebu was responsible for the 10 and under program, which won gold in every competition it entered during the 2012 season.

Azebu also swam for the Aquamaids for seven years, joining the program at age 11. A junior A Team member, she placed second in the team and trio events, while taking fourth in the duet at the 2009 Junior Nationals.

A 2012 graduate of Santa Clara University, Azebu earned her undergraduate degree in psychology and holds a minor in economics. A native of San Jose, she now resides in Campbell, Calif.

Stanford will serve as the host of the 2013 U.S. Collegiate National Championships in March.
