STANFORD, Calif. - The 34th annual U.S. Collegiate Synchronized Swimming Championships continued today at the Avery Aquatic Center on the Stanford campus. The event which will run through Saturday, March 13, is an open-class meet, combining competition from NCAA Divisions I, II, and III and NAIA colleges and universities.
Over 150 of the top athletes from the collegiate scene are competing for titles in the solo, duet, trio and team events.
Friday's action included the figures competition and the team semifinal event. The Ohio State University ended the day in the top position of the team preliminary competition after a posting a mark of 94.625. Host team, Stanford University placed second with a 93.500, while the University of the Incarnate Word rounded out the top three with a 91.875.
Action on Saturday will begin at 8:30 a.m. with the finals competition of the trio followed by the duet, solo and team. The Parade of Athletes will begin at 3:35 p.m. with the Awards Ceremony beginning at 4:30 p.m. Tickets can be purchased at the gate. Admission for Saturday will be $12 for adults and $8 for students, youth and senior citizens.
