ST. CHARLES, Mo. - The Stanford synchronized swimming team opened the 2013 season with a strong showing in the element competition, Friday, at Lindenwood University in St. Charles, Mo. Overall, the Cardinal posted an average score of 71.625, while the Lions tallied a 71.296.

"I am very pleased with the strong showing Cardinal synchro put in the water this evening," stated first-year head coach Sara Lowe. "We arrived at the pool to compete late from the airport due to delays, however, the athletes performed great. The girls really kicked off the season strongly and I cannot wait to continue the momentum!"

Stanford captured the top five spots in the A elements competition against Lindenwood. Senior Olivia Morgan topped the list with a 76.001. She was followed by senior Morgan Fuller (74.601), junior Megan Hansley (74.546), senior Mariya Koroleva (74.378) and senior Madison Crocker (74.259).

Lindenwood's Anouk Eman was the highest finisher for the Lions with a 71.676. Stanford and Lindenwood continue its competition on Saturday, Jan. 26.
