Julia Smit picked up a couple of national honors with her performance at the Texas Invitational

Stanford, Calif. - Stanford sophomore swimmer Julia Smit has been named a National Collegiate Swimmer of the Week by CollegeSwimming.com and Swimming World Magazine based on her performances at Texas Invitational held November 29 - December 1.

Smit helped Stanford to a second place showing out of 15 teams competing at the meet as Stanford tallied 768 points, behind only Arizona's 859. Smit clocked strong NCAA `A' cut times in the 200 IM (1:56.74), 400 IM (4:06.95), 200 back (1:54.39) and 100 back (54.27), while also helping Stanford to an A cut in the 200 free relay (1:30.18).

Stanford will return to the pool with a pair of Pac-10 home dual meets against Arizona State and Arizona on Friday, January 25 (2 pm, PT) and Saturday, January 26 (1 pm, PT).
