STANFORD, Calif. -
Dana Kirk has been added to the Stanford women's swimming staff as a volunteer assistant coach, as announced recently by head coach Greg Meehan.
"We are absolutely thrilled to have Kirk join our coaching staff at Stanford," Meehan said. "Her experience as a student-athlete here coupled with her coaching success over the past few years will be invaluable to our program. With Rick Schavone, Tracy Duchac, undergraduate assistant coaches Betsy Webb and Sam Woodward and now with Dana, I'm very excited about whom our student-athletes get to work with on a daily basis. Not only are they incredibly talented at their profession, they are incredible people."
A 17-time All-American and eight-time Pac-10 Conference title winner during her time on The Farm, Kirk was a member of the United States Olympic Team in 2004 after winning the 200m at the U.S. Olympic Trials. Kirk went on to finish ninth in the 200m fly at the Athens Games. Kirk also swam at the 2008 and 2012 U.S. Olympic Trials.
The standout performer was a member of seven international teams to represent the United States in the pool.
Kirk, who currently serves as the aquatics director at Fremont Hill Country Club (Calif.) and founded Dana Kirk Swimming, is also the Palo Alto Stanford Aquatics site director.
Over the past five years, Kirk has produced many top level age group swimmers in Pacific Swimming as well as Western Zone and North American Challenge Cup qualifiers.
Kirk received undergraduate degrees in both communications and political science at Stanford in 2006.
