Sept. 13, 2012

STANFORD, Calif. - Seven home meets highlight the 2012-13 Stanford women's swimming schedule, as recently announced by first-year head coach Greg Meehan. The likes of Wisconsin, Texas, Pacific, UCLA and USC each are set to visit the Cardinal throughout the season at the Avery Aquatic Center as Stanford eyes a 10th national championship.

"I'm very pleased with how our racing schedule shapes up this season," Meehan said. "Not only will we compete against other Pac-12 Conference schools, but we also have the opportunity to race against great teams like Wisconsin, Texas, San Jose State and Pacific.

The Cardinal hits the water Sept. 28 with a home meet against San Jose State before hosting its annual alumni meet Oct. 6 in conjunction with the university's fall homecoming festivities.

Stanford will roll out the carpet for the two-day George Haines Invitational (Oct. 12-13), an event named in honor of the former Cardinal head coach who guided the program to the 1983 national title.

Home meets with Wisconsin (Nov. 2) and Texas (Nov. 3) precede a trip to the Ohio State Invitational (Nov. 30-Dec. 2) in Columbus, Ohio. Pacific visits Stanford on Dec. 5 to end the 2012 portion of the slate.

After a twinbill at Arizona State (Jan. 25) and Arizona (Jan. 26), the Cardinal returns to campus for conference affairs with UCLA (Feb. 1) and USC (Feb. 2).

The season's final dual meet pits Stanford at defending national champion Cal (Feb. 16).

"Each meet offers different challenges and opportunities, but ultimately, these meets allow us to continue to learn about ourselves both individually and collectively as a team. The feedback we take away from each competition will prepare us for the Pac-12 and NCAA Championships."

The Pac-12 Championships will be held Feb. 27-March 2 at the King County Aquatic Center in Federal Way, Wash., followed by the Pac-12 Invitational on March 3.

The IU Natatorium in Indianapolis will serve as the host site for the 2013 NCAA Championships (March 21-23), where Stanford will be competing for its first national crown since 1998.

All home meets will be held at Stanford's Avery Aquatic Center.
