STANFORD, Calif. - The Stanford Athletics family mourns the passing of former women's swimmer Jennifer Pokluda Peterson, who died on August 27th following a heroic battle with brain cancer. She was 42.

Then Jennifer Pokluda, she was a 12-time All-American for Stanford from the 1984-85 through 1987-88 seasons. One of the nation's best backstroke swimmers, she was a part of four straight Cardinal teams that finished at least third at the NCAA Championships. Her last two Stanford teams won the first two Pacific-10 Conference championships ever awarded in women's swimming. She also swam the first leg of Stanford's 200 Medley Relay team that won the 1986 NCAA title.

Jennifer's husband of 17 years, Erik Peterson, son Erik and daughter Karly request that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to either of the following:
