OMAHA, Neb. - As the USA Olympic Swimming Trials entered its final three days, Julia Smit and Andrea Axtell wore the Stanford colors on the 4th of July.

Smit, who on Thursday was selected to her first Olympic team, swam a pair of events today - including a solid, sixth place showing in the 100 meter freestyle final with a time of 54.99 seconds. Earlier today, Smit swam in the prelims for the 200 meter backstroke, falling .37-second shy of advancing to the semis with a time of 2:13.89.

Also competing in the 200 meter back was Axtell, who touched the wall in a solid time of 2:15.55.

Saturday will be the penultimate day of the trials, and Elaine Breeden, who already secured her Olympic berth with a victory Thursday in the 200 meter butterfly, will compete in her final event - the 50 meter freestyle prelims. She will be joined by Cardinal teammates Brooke Bishop, Kate Dwelley and Fiona O'Donnell-McCarthy.
