IOWA CITY, Iowa-- Former Stanford star Cassidy Krug, along with her partner Kassidy Cook won the U.S. Winter National Championship in the women’s synchronized 3-meter. It is the second title for the duo.

Krug and Cook defeated Abby Johnston and Christina Loukas in the finals by .21 points.

Krug and Cook saved the best for last, scoring a 75.60 in the back 2 ½ somersault pike, scoring 8.50 or better with seven of the 11 judges. Johnston and Loukas scored a 74.70 on the same routine, proving to be the difference, with that duo tallying an 8.5 or better with six judges.

Krug and Cook began their day by scoring a 298.08 in the preliminaries, as Cook also teamed with Johnston to score a 303.00 and with Loukas to tally a 311.04 mark. Johnston and Loukas ended up with a top score of 314.40 in the preliminaries.

The winter nationals, delayed a bit due to weather, runs through Sunday. Krug and fellow alum Dwight Dumais will compete in the one-meter on Wednesday. The men's three-meter will be on Thursday and the women's three-meter will be on Friday.
