Stanford Record Book: 500 Free (4th), 1650 Free (10th), 800 Free Relay (1st)
International Competition: At the U.S. Trials in Indianapolis in July, 2009, posted a lifetime-best in the 400 (4:15.51)... was fourth in the "B" Final of the 400 freestyle (4:15.51) after coming in as the 53rd seed... moved up 37 spots to 39th place in the 400 freestyle with a time of 2:02.46... also swam 8:50.16 for 19th place in the prelims in the 800... swam 30th in the 800 at the U.S. Open in Federal Way, Wash., in August, 2009... also was eighth in the "C" finals of the 400... qualified for the 2008 U.S. Olympic Trials in three events...placed 54th in the 100-meter fly (1:01.12), while also swimming the 200 fly and 400 free...competed at Summer Senior Nationals from 2005-07...has twice swam at the U.S. Open (2004 and 2008), compiling four top-25 finishes (200 and 400 free in '04 and the 100 fly and 400 free in '08)...placed in the top-10 in four events at the 2005 Junior Championships (fourth in the 200 fly, fifth in the 400 free, eighth in the 100 fly and eighth in the 100 free)...finished in the top-10 in five races during the 2003 Spring and Summer Junior National Championships.
Stanford in 2009-2010 (Senior): Earned All-American honors as part of the sixth place finishing 800 freestyle relay... finished 36th in the 1650 freestyle at the NCAA Championships...finished seventh in the 500 freestyle at the Pac-10 championships...won the 1000 yard freestyle with a time of 9:59.23 against UCLA.
Stanford in 2008-09 (Junior): Named an All-American twice, in the 500 freestyle and the 800 freestyle relay... the relay certificate was for the third-straight time... had the NCAA's 24th-fastest 500 freestyle time (4:40.76)... part of school-record 800 relay team at the Pac-10 Championships... finished fifth in the 500 free at the Pac-10s (4:42.47).
Stanford in 2007-08 (Sophomore): Capped her sophomore campaign with her second consecutive All-America honor in the 800 free relay...swam the second leg as Stanford tied for fourth at the NCAA Championships with a time of 7:04.83...competed in four event finals at the Pac-10 Championships...finished seventh in the 500 free (4:47.90), eighth in the 200 free (1:48.97) and 13th in the 200 fly (2:00.91)...helped the Cardinal to a second-place finish in the 800 free relay (7:05.70)...was third among Stanford swimmers with a season-best and NCAA "A" standard of 4:45.07 in the 500 free...also turned in the Card's third-best effort in both the 200 free (NCAA "A" standard 1:47.02) and the 200 fly (1:59.84), both at the NCAA Championships.
Stanford in 2006-07 (Freshman): Earned All-American status in the 800 free relay...swam the second leg as Stanford finished seventh (7:09.50) at the NCAA Championships...finished third in the 500 free at the Pac-10 Championships with an NCAA "A" standard time of 4:44.16...placed sixth in the 200 free (1:48.24) and 13th in the 200 fly (2:01.91)...contributed to Stanford's third-place 800 free relay team that touched the wall in 7:06.59.
High School, Club and Personal Data: Daughter of James and Barbara Spence...graduated from Mt. Carmel High School in San Diego, Calif....won consecutive NISCA High School national titles in the 500 free, capturing top honors in 2004 and 2005...was a five-time high school All-American and the 2004-05 San Diego North Zone Athlete of the Year...was named the 2005-06 San Diego County Scholar-Athlete of the Year...was tabbed the 2004 San Diego Section CIF Swimmer of the Year...also excelled in basketball, earning four letters as Mt. Carmel's center...averaged 20 points and 12 rebounds per game as a senior, helping her team to the San Diego Section Division II championship...was a first-team All-North County and first-team All-CIF performer on the court...swam for Pacific Swim under coach Owen Molenaar...majoring in management science and engineering.
