ITHACA, N.Y. - Stanford's women's squash team started its season with a 2-1 East Coast road trip, defeating Williams College, 8-1, and Hamilton College, 9-0 on Saturday. The Cardinal fell to rival Cornell, 5-4, on Sunday in Ithaca.

Sunday's match saw victories by Kerrie Sample, Madeleine Gill, Ariel Posner and Alexandra Huchro. Cornell won it's 1, 3, 4, 8 & 9-seeded matches to pull out the victory.

"It was our first test of the season," said head coach Mark Talbott. "The women beat Hamilton and Williams convincingly and lost a close match with Cornell. I am sure we will see that team again at nationals, and we will be ready."

The Cardinal competes next January 17-19 at the Yale Round Robin.
