STANFORD, Calif. - The Cardinal welcomes eight freshmen to the squad this year. GoStanford.com will profile each of them throughout the season. In this edition get to know outfielder Cassandra Roulund.
My goals for this season are: To play hard and help the team in any and every way that I can and to win a national championship!
The most noteworthy thing about my hometown: The "Real housewives of Orange County" is filmed where I live... unfortunately.
My first impression of Coach Rittman was: I thought his accent was cool and I never recognized him without his hat and glasses on.
Talent I would most like to have: 1. To sing (like Beyonce) 2. To dance (like Beyonce)
My parents' occupations are: They both own and operate a small construction business.
Favorite napping spot: Anywhere and everywhere (the locker room is definitely in my top-5 favorite places though).
The perfect meal includes: Chocolate, cheese, bread, and seafood
My favorite thing about our team is: Our ability to be best friends off the field and supportive teammates on the field.
The furthest from home I have ever been is: Haiti
The person I would most like to meet is: Jennifer Aniston, Sarah Jessica Parker, Beyonce, and Patrick Dempsey.
Superstitions/pregame rituals: I don't really have any, it kind of changes on a game-to-game basis. I guess I can describe it as an organized chaos.
When I leave Stanford, I want to: Live in New York with one of my best friends.
Since coming to Stanford, I have learned: How to perfectly measure 2/3 of a cup of water without using a measuring cup (for my easy-mac!).
My sports hero growing up was: My best friend, Megan Meyer. I have always looked up to her both on and off the field.
I collect: Pictures and things that remind me of my friends.
In my off-time, I'm most likely to be found:
Sleeping, eating, and driving for fun.
Something people would be surprised to know about me: I love to act and I was in the musical Annie. (I'm not a good singer though, so I cry out of embarrassment every time I watch the video of me performing).
The best thing about Stanford is: The people! (My team and my dorm in particular).
Least Favorite Food: Thick slices of ham
My favorite movie: Dirty Dancing and Christmas Vacation
My favorite TV show: Friends, Grey's Anatomy, and Once Upon A Time
Favorite city: Paris (even though I've never been there)
Ten years from now I hope to be: Living out my dreams. Whether that be living in New York or Paris, or starting a family, I hope to be happy.
If I had to cook all of my meals, I'd probably survive on: Mac-n-cheese and my grandma and mom's lasagna recipe!
Over the summer, I: went on a houseboat trip to Lake Shasta with my family and friends.
Hidden talent: I can juggle and bike with no hands (not at the same time, but I am currently working on it).
My favorite place on the Stanford campus is: My dorm! (or MemChu or Green Library).
My parents were right when they told me: That in the end, everything will be ok.
The reason I chose Stanford University is: There is no place in the world that has better people, academics, or athletics. It's currently rivaling Disneyland as the happiest place on earth.
My favorite thing to do on campus is: Get in as many of the tourists' photos as possible.
My funniest teammate is: The coaches
The sport I am the worst at is: Anything that requires grace or elegance.
My biggest pet peeve is: When people say or write "anyways" instead of "anyway"... anyways is not a word, it's a weird pet peeve.
Stanford softball will be fun to watch this year because: We have so much heart and passion and we work harder than anybody else on and off the field!
