STANFORD, Calif. -Each week GoStanford.com will feature a Q&A with a different member of the 2013 Stanford softball team. This week get to know freshman Kaitlin Schaberg.

How old were you when you first started playing softball? 5

If you could have one superpower what would it be? Super speed... Speed kills.

Besides softball, do you have any unique talents? I like to think I could be the next American Idol, except I have this fear of singing in front of people.

If you could meet any celebrity who would it be? Michael Jackson. I would like to get inside his head and find out what made him do all the weird things he did in life, but also talk about his music and what inspired him to create the type of music that he did.

If you could travel anywhere in the world where would you go? I would go to the Mediterranean and visit the surrounding European countries such as France, Italy, Greece, etc. I would go to these countries to see their history and experience the culture of all these different countries. Also, I would love to spend a lot of my time on the beach and trying all the delicious food.

If you won the lottery what is the first thing you would buy? A lovely new car.

What is your proudest sports moment? During nationals a couple of years ago, we were playing a really good team with a really good pitcher. Until the last inning, this pitcher had a no-hitter going. I was up to bat and was supposed to be the last out of the game. Instead, I had our teams first hit! After that, the next several batters got hits as well and we started a hitting rally! Rallying my team and showing our opponents that we weren’t giving up yet was my proudest moment.

If you could attend one professional sporting event what would it be? MLB World Series

What is your favorite thing about being a Stanford student-athlete? The opportunity to interact/ compete with/ learn form all of the incredible people in the Stanford community.

What is one material thing you could not live without? My iPod

What TV show would you want to be on/a part of? Modern Family

Favorite music/artist? Country/Carrie Underwood

Favorite quote? “You only live once, but if you do it right, once is enough.” –Mae West

Biggest pet peeve? When people touch me with their feet.

Most embarrassing moment? During a school assembly, the softball team was being called to the center of our gymnasium full of every kid in my high school as part of an awards ceremony. I was for some reason in a hurry to get to the floor and tripped down the bleacher steps, falling flat on my face in front of everyone.
