STANFORD, Calif. - The No. 20/22 Stanford softball team (5-2) will play host to the Stanford Nike Invitational Friday through Sunday, Feb. 15-17, at Smith Family Stadium. Participating teams include CSU Bakersfield, Cal State Northridge, Santa Clara and UC Davis. Admission is free.

SANTA CLARA RECAP: Stanford defeated Santa Clara, 8-0 in five innings, in its home opener on Wednesday, Feb. 13. Senior pitcher Teagan Gerhart threw a one-hitter, registering her first shutout of the season to improve to 3-1. Six different Cardinal players recorded a hit, including senior Sarah Hassman who led the team with two hits and three RBI.

IN THE CONFERENCE: As a team, the Cardinal leads the conference in walks with 26. Stanford is second in the Pac-12 with 57 hits, 35 runs scored and 34 RBI, while ranking fourth in on-base percentage (.380). Pitchers Teagan Gerhart and Kelsey Stevens both rank in the top 10 in ERA and strikeouts. Stevens leads the Pac-12 with 13 batters struck out looking.

 

 

UP NEXT: Stanford will hit the road again after this weekend, traveling to the Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic in Cathedral City, Calif., Feb. 22-24. The Cardinal will face No. 13/14 Georgia, Oklahoma State, Virginia, Florida State and Syracuse.
