LSU Head Coach Yvette Girouard
"It was a heavyweight boxing match, a slugfest, and I am not sure either side predicted what was going to happen. It was a little hectic there in the first couple of innings, I had a feeling Stanford was going to bring it today. I have to give a lot of credit to Dani (Hofer), she came in and had a little rough of an outing when she first got in but then she was able to shut it down and give us what we need. Also, wow, what can you say about Rachel Mitchell.
On the high scoring game:
"I haven't been in many games like that. In the SEC a couple of times I was about to get run ruled and once we beat a team 15-12, but not in this big of a matchup have we been in a high scoring game like that.
On the offense:
"I thought we did a very good job of being disciplined at the plate. We had a plan and the kids stuck to it right away. I know Emily (Turner) is a great pitcher, but I think she just ran out of gas.
LSU OF Rachel Mitchell
On the pitches she hit out:
"I honestly have no idea what she threw. I have no clue if she offspeed pitches or not. I'm just trying like coach said to cut my head off and swing the bat and luckily it's working.
LSU Pitcher Dani Hofer
On restoring order:
"I struggled in the first inning because my curveout wasn't working too well. So I had to figure something new out with my curveout not working I just had to change my approach and try to develop a new pitch that I could use for strikeouts.
Stanford Coach John Rittman
On facing LSU:
"Your never ready to end your season, you just never are. I'm very proud of our team the way we fought until the end. It was a game of momenteum shifts and they had a lot of big hits. I think Missy did the best with what she had, she just ran out of gas. They had a lot of hitters step up and I thought our offense came alive. We did a good job tonight and LSU is just a great team and they came up on top.
"All the teams in thisd tournament were very capable. This was a very tough region with a lot of very evenly matched teams. I was very worried about LSU, we played them in Palm Spring and we knew that had a lot of capable players.
