Cardinal Advance to Regional Final

May 16, 1998

STILLWATER, Okla.-- Mary Crouch pitched a complete-game five-hit shutout and drove in the go-ahead run to lead top-seeded Stanford to a 3-0 victory over Southwest Missouri State in the NCAA Softball Regional.

The victory advances the Cardinal, playing in its first-ever NCAA Tournament, to the regional championship game to face Oklahoma State, the only team in the regional without a tournament loss.

Stanford scored three times in the third inning, capped by Michelle Acosta's run-scoring single. Crouch drove in the first run of the inning with a single of her own and later scored on an error following Acosta's single.
