No. 12 Stanford and No. 20 Cal Split in Pair of Extra-Inning Softball Games.

STANFORD, Calif.--The Stanford softball team split with California on April 11 in a doubleheader played at the Stanford Softball Complex. California took the first game, 3-2 in 11 innings. Stanford won the 10-inning nightcap, 3-2.

Cal's Megumi Takasaki's 11th inning double scored Tricia Hunt to break a 1-1 tie. Hunt was placed on second place to begin the 11th inning in accordance with the international tie break rule. Lisa Iancin singled to score Takasaki to put the Bears up, 3-1. Stanford's 11th inning rally fell just short as the Bears held on to win.

Cal's Whitney Floyd picked up the win in game one. She allowed only five hits while striking out four and walking one in 11 innings of work. Stanford's Marcy Crouch allowed one earned run on three hits while striking out one in the loss. Crouch fell to 8-5 on the season.

Stanford right fielder Michele Acosta singled in the bottom of the 10th inning of the nightcap to score Jennie Folye and break a 2-2 tie. Stanford pitcher Becky Blevins threw a two-hitter, allowing no earned runs and striking out 11 batters over 10 innings of work. Whitney Floyd of Cal recorded the loss. Blevins improves to 17-4 on the season while Floyd falls to 13-6.

Acosta hit 4-for-9 with one RBI to lead the Cardinal at the plate. Shideler added two hits, one run scored and two RBI.

Stanford will host San Jose State on Monday, April 13 at 2 p.m. at the Stanford Softball Complex.
