Week 3: #14 Alex Gamble

Alex Gamble

Alex Gamble

Alex is a sophomore from Temecula, Calif. who is studying drama and psychology at Stanford. In just over a year as the squad's starting goalkeeper, she has posted nine shutouts and recorded 48 saves. So far in 2006, Alex has been a key member of the Cardinal defense that has held is last four opponents scoreless.

Question of the Week: Where is your favorite place to visit?

I love going to Disneyland. I grew up in SoCal near Anaheim so I went there a lot growing up. I had season passes every year when I was little so I practically lived there. Ever since, I've always had an attraction to Disneyland because it brings me back to my childhood. I definitely go at least once a year with friends and family. I went twice over the summer this year. I just love the place; I've even thought it would be fun to work for Disney. My favorite ride is Indiana Jones. I love all the rides there but they're all really different. I think I love Indiana Jones the best because of the atmosphere and the fact that the set design makes waiting in line almost as fun as the ride."

The Week That Was: Rutgers and Long Island

I'm really happy about the games we played this weekend. We came together and showed who we are and who we will be. It was just beautiful soccer out there. We were able to string together a lot of passes and really connect with each other. I think we really showed what we were made of this weekend. The defense has been a huge part of our wins so far. I love my defense. They communicate really well with each other. They do a great job knowing each other, finding each other and knowing where to be. They know how and when to play the simple ball and when to get rid of it. I think overall they just gel well together. I think another important thing is that our freshmen scored some great goals and really came up big for us this weekend. It's good to know they're going to be great for our team. It's great to have them playing with us, helping us and just making us that much better.

The Week That Is: Tennessee and Boston University

Tennessee and BU are both supposed to be really solid opponents but I think it will be a good test for us. I think we're up to the challenge and I'm really excited to see how we do. As long as we play as well as we did this past weekend, I think we definitely will win both games. It's exciting to be playing at home as well. I think it adds something to every team to play on home turf but I think it really adds something to our team when we're playing at home. Just being supported by friends and family and playing where you practice everyday makes it a really fun atmosphere to play in.
