Nicole Barnhart is an Olympic gold medalist, U.S. national team veteran and a current professional goalkeeper who serves as Stanford's volunteer assistant coach.

Barnhart, perhaps the best female goalkeeper in the country, is a regular in the U.S. national team lineup and a member of the 2011 U.S. World Cup team. She also plays for the Philadelphia Independence of Women's Professional Soccer and was named the league's Goalkeeper of the Year while leading FC Gold Pride to the 2010 championship.

Barnhart represented the U.S. on both the 2007 Women's World Cup and 2008 Olympic teams and has spent her off-seasons as a Stanford volunteer assistant, a post she previously held from 2005-07 before returning after the Olympics for Stanford's 2009 season.

A two-time first-team All-American, Barnhart continues to hold Stanford career records for goals-against average (0.45) and shutouts (35), as well as single-season marks in both categories (0.19 and 18, respectively).

Barnhart, a native of Gilbertsville, Pa.., graduated from Stanford with a double degree in studio art and psychology.
