vs. Hofstra - 3/26
Our team does a very good job with giving the fans an exciting game. Luckily, Stanford came away with the victory against Hofstra, but not an easy victory. We were ahead the entire game, but we allowed Hofstra to come back and tie the game with about three minutes to play. In the first overtime, Claire and Kim connected for a nice goal to give Stanford the "W".
Spring Break has given the team the opportunity to take the time to confront some challenges that we have been avoiding. After a long discussion, the team decided that mistakes and injuries are part of the game and cannot be avoided. We cannot be afraid to take risks because of the potential consequences. If we make a mistake, we have to trust our teammates to back us up and learn from that mistake for future instances. The general conclusion for the team was to relax and play our game without excess worries.
Our game against Hofstra did show points of that discussion come to life. We still looked a bit hesitant at times, but individuals (especially Kim and Sarah) set amazing examples of toughness while having a great time out on the lacrosse field. We all look forward to continuing our season with these focuses in mind.
Stay tuned for the last game of Spring Break on our trip to Denver. We are forecasting some snow and a lot of Cardinal goals.
