Stanford, CA - The Cardinal continues their four-game homstand with two games this week. On Tuesday, March 5 they take on the St. Mary's Gaels at 7pm at Stanford Stadium. On Staurday, March 9, they face the Notre Dame Fighting Irish at 2pm, location TBA. Stanford is currently 2-2 overall this season and 2-0 in the MPLL. They defeated UC Davis to open the season, 17-5 then beat the Gaels at St. Mary's Stadium, 12-8. This was the Cardinal's 13th consecutive league victory, stretching from the 1999-2000 season. Stanford opened it's home season with a loss to the No. 10 Syracuse Orangewomen and followed that with another tough loss to the Cornell Big Red.
Leading the way for the Card this season on the scorebooks are a quintet of freshman making the mark on the squad. Julia Calzonetti and Kelsey Twist each have 10 points racked up in the first four games, with seven goals and three assists apiece. With eight point each, Claire Calzonetti and Ali Salatti have added five goals and three assists and Nina Pantano rounds out the group of five, with six goals and one assist for seven total points. Junior transfer Virginia Solomon has started all four games for the Cardinal and has recorded 27 saves in goal. She currently has a save percentage of .49.
